Kates Candle

This is a candle that has been created in loving memory of Kate Morfill a very special client who became a very special friend of mine and is one of my biggest inspirations. All profits raised from this candle are being given to Beating Bowel Cancer Charity and the Bexley Wing in Leeds.

  • Kate was truly special, a bright light that shone everywhere she went. With her thoughtful and caring nature, her kind and funny ways, she seemed to touch the hearts of everyone she met, she certainly did mine!

When she walked into my treatment room in 2013 I was simply amazed and inspired by her positive energy. Despite what she was going through (endless rounds of chemo and treatment to battle liver and bowel cancer) she never complained and she wasn't going to let it get her down. She was so positive, she was SO my sort of girl, and I wanted to help in anyway I could.

Over the following years she came to me for regular healing sessions and we became true friends. She absolutely loved the Retreat. It was her sanctuary where she came and escaped from the world and truly let go. She loved her healing space - with her favourite playlist on, candles lit and her favourite essential oils filling the room with uplifting, comforting and relaxing aromas. She always left feeling great saying 'I feel like you've given me a brand new body' which made me so happy.

  • Tragically Kate passed away in February 2016 leaving hundreds of broken hearts behind her. I think of her often, especially when I need to find some inner strength or be told to “stop overthinking things” or just “go for it” as she would always tell me. Apparently she was born with this attitude it wasn't because she was ill.

Kate was the kind of girl that would buy a beautiful candle and burn it!! Not save it for a special occasion like I would, she absolutely loved candles!! That's why this just felt right; to make one in her memory. I used Grapefruit (her favourite, very uplifting and a good support to the liver), Frankincense (the father of all oils, the most powerful and sacred) and Geranium (nourishing, balancing and it was great for her skin). Mixed together they make a beautifully uplifting and comforting blend.

After lots of practice - blending and finding the most natural ingredients with the help of Gabby from 'Pure Natural Therapy' we created ‘Kates Candle’ in February 2018. I was certain I wanted all profits to go to charity and it has already raised over £2000 the candles are available in three different sizes as you can see below.

I’ve been delighted that so many people have bought the candle and even more so when they come back for another! It really is a lovely smelling and high quality candle that means even those who didn’t know Kate are happy to spend their money on this candle, knowing money goes to a good cause and its one they can really enjoy lighting.

With my love of essential oils and blending, I set out thinking creating Kates candle would be easy. However after several attempts with different waxes, oils, melting temperatures etc I realised there really is a fine art and science to making a good quality, strong smelling, natural candle. So when I met Gabby (a very talented candle maker!) it was the perfect match to hep me with this special project. She makes beautiful bespoke, handmade candles from her idyllic cottage in a village nearby and her business is ‘Pure Natural Therapy’.
